My days training always starts with morning ki / deep breathing exercises,about 30 minutes worth.
I do stick every day.If I am working, I aim for 45 minutes with the baston (stick).This will be a mixture of solo baston, espada y daga, knife techniques,etc.
On my days off,I hit the weights as well as do my 45 minutes of baston work.
In addition to this I teach one 4 - 5 hour class aweek.
In my work I am either walking or cycling for several hours in a day,so this keeps me in reasonable condition.… Continue
Baseball bats or similarly heavy impact weapons are a great training tool.If you do not already do this,try practicing all your blocks and techniques with a baseball bat, (being on the receiving end that is) as you will need to use different distancing and timing when using a lighter weapon, such as a rattan stick.

My teacher,Grandmaster Benjamin Luna Lema(Mang Ben),founder of Lightning Scientific Arnis was highly skilled with many types of weapons.
It is interesting however that in my daily travelling and training around Manila and the provinces with my Mang Ben, the only times I saw him carrying weapons were when we were delivering sticks,itaks (bolos/machetes) etc. to different groups of students.
