Women in the FMA - I started a page on Facebook for our sisters in the FMA

Hello Everyone,

The ratio of women who participate in the FMA is minimal. It would be great to share experiences as well as get to know the rest of our sisters who share this common interest in an uncommon martial arts style!

To locate the page on Facebook type in Women in the FMA (Filipino Martial Arts). Great way to connect with the rest of my sisters in the FMA!

Martial Arts and Americas Best Dance Crew

Was hoping that Americas Best Dance Crew would have a good demonstration of the martial arts during last nights show...very disappointing all around. Anyone else catch the show last night? Positive part of it was that Kali was brought in as one of the martial arts to be incorporated in the routine...disappointed that it was only used as a prop

Thank you! Yes it is good to read up on everyone. Adam and I just finished for the day... Chicken Soup, a soda and time to re-charge for tomorrow. Totally bummed I had to miss workout tonight. I did some pushups where no one could see me so they would not think I am insane...Not Adam will ever ride a bike again :-) kind off a long day...

Hello Velma. I met him at his dojo in Chula Visita. The owner at Eagle Trading told me he no longer teaches, that was about 2 years ago when I was last there on a visit/vacation. I miss the Lemon sharks.

Gretings Maestra. I am going to show my age and ask if you or anyone you know, knows a man by the name of "Chicken" Gaberial? I met him in the 70's and wanted to say hi to him, he will remember the guy that walked into his school and asked "which one of you here is chicken?" Joel

Greetings Sister. Imua is Polynesian meaning to go forward, not to back away even to move forward aggressivliy. Tamaraw is a very rare, endangered species of waterbuffolo that can be very aggressive when confronted and have been known to wreack entire villages. They are found only on an island in the Philippines. The founder of the style is Master Glen Abrecsy who now resides in Californa. He and the founder of Imua Shangtung Kuntao were good friends, Armando Soto now heads that style. Master Abrecsy has changed the name of his style and now calls what he does "the Abrescy Method". I learned from Lino Rodriques in 1975 while in the US Navy. the style is a complete system that follows certain prinicples including the 8 points of balance and the 9 gates of blocking-striking-footwork.
